THE FIREMAN'S PRAYER

When I am called to duty, God

Wherever flames may rage,

Give me strength to save some life

Whatever be its age. Help me embrace a little child

Before it is too late

Or save an older person from

The horror of that fate. Enable me to be alert to the weakest shout,

And quickly and efficiently

To put the fire out. I want to fill my calling and

To give the best in me. To guard my every neighbor and

Protect his property. And if according to my fate

I am to lose my life

Please bless with your protecting hand

My family and my wife.

We are holding a Co****le Fundraiser for Stephentown Ambulance, sponsored by Upstate Baggers, on Saturday, June 20th to raise money to help offset the cost of the refurbished LifePak 15 cardiac monitor for our ambulance. This advanced equipment will significantly enhance the care we can provide right here in our community.

One of the most important capabilities of the LifePak 15 is the ability to perform a 12-lead EKG and transmit it directly to the hospital while we are still caring for the patient in the field. In the case of a severe heart attack, this allows the emergency department and cardiac specialists to begin preparing for the patient’s arrival before the ambulance even reaches the hospital. When heart muscle is at risk, every minute counts.

Our goal is simple: to give our residents the best possible chance in a medical emergency.

We rely on the generosity of our community to make improvements like this possible. If co****le isn't your thing but you would like to donate, you can send a check to Stephentown Ambulance/Stephentown Fire District No 1, PO Box 208, Stephentown, NY 12168. Your donation directly supports lifesaving care for your friends, family, and neighbors and helps offset the tax burden. THANK YOU!

Big thank you to our amazing EMS crew and happy EMS week! We celebrated with a taco bar at drill last night and took the opportunity to get a group photo with the new ambulance.

The SVFD is proud to announce that we have been awarded a grant through the Gary Sinise Foundation with a partnership with Joseph Carr and Josh Wine Cellars. We have purchased 3 sets of structural firefighting bunker gear through their generous work helping out departments across the country. Since 2011, they have given out 939 grants, with more than 21,000 pieces of equipment awarded. This evening, they catered a dinner for SVFD members along with their families as well as mutual Chiefs from Grafton, Petersburgh, and Berlin, including the town Supervisors from Stephentown and Berlin. A huge thanks goes out to Gary Sinise, Joseph Carr, and the members of both companies for providing and serving all that attended. Thank you also goes out to Zuccchini's Restaurant for the delicious meal.

Today was the day, 3 years in the making. This afternoon, the SVFD took delivery of our new Horton ambulance purchased through VCI Emergency Vehicles in New Jersey. This will replace our current ambulance which has roughly 112 thousand miles. Although not in service quite yet, it will be registered next week, with the county and hospital radios installed shortly, along with our new Stryker electric lift patient cot. We would like to greatly thank our Board of Fire Commissioners for making this happen and supporting our EMS program. Stay tuned for our official post for when we place it into service.
