Pay attention folks, summer has just started and this kind of news is not what we need to hear. PFDs (personal flotation device) save lives!!

It’s been a difficult weekend so far on Texas waters.

As of posting, Texas Game Wardens have responded, or are currently responding, to multiple water-related fatalities and emergencies across the state, including:
▪️Lake Travis (Travis County)
▪️Lake Fryer (Ochiltree County)
▪️Galveston Bay (Galveston County)
▪️Benbrook Lake (Tarrant County)
▪️Lake Jacksonville (Cherokee County)
▪️Lake Brownwood (Brown County)

Every one of these incidents is a tragedy, and our thoughts are with the families and loved ones affected.

And while every incident has unique circumstances, many water-related tragedies are preventable. Taking a few simple precautions can help keep you and those around you safe.

🛟 Wear a U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket.
🍺 Don’t boat under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
👦 Keep a close eye on children.
🚤 Wear your vessel’s emergency engine cut-off switch.
⛈️ Be prepared for changing weather conditions.
⚠️ Avoid unnecessary risks.

Conditions can change quickly, and emergencies often happen with little warning.

Remembering a great guy and fireman.

We are saddened to learn of the passing of Joe Billingsley, a former Assistant Chief of the Dublin Volunteer Fire Department.
Joe was extremely dedicated to the fire service and was proud to be a member of our department. His commitment extended beyond our community, as he served for many years as a guest instructor at Texas A&M’s Annual Municipal Fire School, sharing his knowledge and experience with firefighters from across the state.
Joe’s contributions to the fire service and the lives he touched will not be forgotten. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of serving alongside him.
Rest in peace, Chief Billingsley.
