Erath County Volunteer Fire Rescue Erath County VFR was created in 2003 to assist in providing fire protection to the rural areas of Erath County.

We are comprised of 25 Volunteer Firefighters, 1 full time paid Coordinator, & 11 part time paid Firefighters.

Next up Heavy Brush Unit 807. Erath County Volunteer Fire Rescue received an equipment grant from The Texas A&M Forest Service for $45,000.00 for a skid unit, that is the pump and tank, and placed it on a surplus military truck purchased by ECVFR. This unit carries 1000 gallons of water. Unit 807 was built out and painted by the fine folks at Steele Fire Apparatus in Haskell, Texas. This unit can cover many task, firefighting, it has multiple hand lines and bumper nozzles on the front, tanker, high water rescue and is capable for towing out fire trucks that get stuck. Unit 807! We are here to serve!!

Well folks it time to present two new pieces of equipment. These will be in two different post! First up Erath County Volunteer Fire Rescue received a $25,000.00 equipment grant from The Texas A&M Forest service with which we purchased a new Can-Am off road vehicle. This unit is equipped with the skid unit from the previous RTV for firefighting but can also be used for lookout on wildland fires and for patient transport from hard to reach places. Unit 812.

Local county and city officials have conferred and agreed to postpone the statewide test until 12:00 PM today in order to ensure optimal effectiveness. State officials have been notified of this revised schedule.
