Subject just seen on the North bound side of Us 87 1/4 mile from town. Jumped the fence and ran North in the pasture.

** Update**
Subject is still at large at this time, please remain alert and cautious. Do not approach the subject if seen, contact the Sheriff's Office. Apologies for the error in the first post, yes the subject was on US Highway 87 South (toward San Angelo) approximately 1/2 mile out of town. The subject jumped the fence and proceeded through the pasture Southbound. Subject is wanted for Fleeing and eluding.

The sterling County Sheriff's Office is currently 1/2 South on US highway 87, we are currently looking for a wanted subject who fled a traffic stop into the pasture southbound. At this time we do not believe the suspect to be armed but as always do not approach if seen, Contact the Sheriff's office. Subject is a black male wearing pink pants and brown and pink sweatshirt

Reminder that the Sterling County Sheriff's Office will be hosting a free Stop the bleed (STB) and Citizen Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) class this Saturday, July 25th starting at 8:00am at the Sterling Community Center. **On 7/13/2026 at approximately 7:00pm the Sterling County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to the scene of a 3 vehicle motor vehicle collision on Texas State Highway 158 near the Glasscock County line. When officers arrived on scene injuries were reported and 2 confirmed fatalities.

Prayers go out to all parties involved.

Texas DPS is still investigating the accident, with no further information available at this time. We would like to extend a huge thank you to the Sterling County EMS, Sterling County Volunteer fire department, Glasscock County Sheriff's Office, Sterling County Judge Counts, Sterling County Justice of the Peace Martinez, Glasscock County EMS, Glasscock County Volunteer Fire Department, Irion County Dispatch, TX Dot and TX DPS. **
