Where: Household Curbside Service. Place items as close to the street as possible. (ITEMS WILL NOT BE PICKED UP IN ALLEY NOR ANY ITEMS UP IN YOUR YARD.)

ACCEPTABLE ITEMS:
** (Limited to 5-bulk items or 10 bags/bundles per event. NO MORE THAN 5FT BY 5FT PER HOUSEHOLD. IF THERE IS MORE THAN THE 5 BULK, 10 BAG OR 5 FT BY 5 FT RULE, REPUBLIC WILL NOT PICK ANY OF IT UP)
Appliances, BBQ grills without propane tank
Brush/Limbs-cut to 4’ long bundled and tied
Bagged Leaves
Furniture, Mattresses/Box Springs
Fiberglass tub/shower, Toilets
Outdoor Items (bicycle, kiddie pool, ladder, large plastic toys, all fluid drained lawn equipment)

TV’s, Computers
Wooden Pallets
Window Frames (no broken glass)
White Goods/Appliances (cooper line must be cut and made visible)

Hazardous Material (paint, household cleaners)

Construction/Remodeling Material (sheetrock, insulation)
Batteries of any kind

This will be a curbside service. Have all your **bulky material in front of your house by Friday, September 18, 2026. Republic will do one sweep, anything left will be your responsibility for removal. Put out items at your own risk. Keep items not meant for pickup away from bulky items. Contractor nor City is not responsible for items picked up that were not meant for bulk item pickup.

Boil Water Notice Rescinded
September 2, 2026
On August 27, 2026, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required the City of Sterling City public water system, permit number TX2160001, to issue a Boil Water Notice to inform customers, individuals, or employees that due to conditions which
occurred recently in the public water system, the water from this public water system was required to be boiled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes.
The public water system has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore the quality of the water distributed by this public water system used for drinking water or human consumption purposes and has provided TCEQ with laboratory test results that indicate that the water no longer requires boiling prior to use as of September 2, 2026.

NOTICE OF UPCOMING SERVICE LINE REPAIR

On Saturday, August 29, 2026, at approximately 8:30 am a scheduled fire hydrant repair will be conducted. All city residents and businesses should anticipate periods of reduced water pressure or possible water service interruption during the repair. The completion time for this repair has not yet been determined. Updates regarding the progress will be provided as available.

Boil Water Notice

August 27th 2026

Due to a fire hydrant breaking open, the City lost pressure and or service in some water lines. If you experienced low or no pressure this notice applies to you. Because the Water Pressure dropped below the minimum required pressure of 20 PSI the City is required to notify customers to boil their water prior to consumption. Samples will be taken to the lab and results will be issued as we receive them. Testing can take 24 to 48 hours for each batch of samples. Once the City receives notification that the water samples are good, the City will issue a Boil Water Rescind Notice.


Boil Water Notice

Effective August 27th 2026

Due to low water pressure, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required the City of Sterling City public water system permit number TX2160001 to notify all customers to boil their water prior to consumption (e.g., washing hands/face, brushing teeth, drinking, etc). Children, seniors, and persons with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria, and all customers should follow these directions).

To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.

In lieu of boiling, individuals may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the public water system officials will notify customers that the water is safe for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

Once the boil water notice is no longer in effect, the public water system will issue a notice to customers that rescinds the boil water notice in a manner similar to this notice.

Please share this information with all the other people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (for example, people in apartments, nursing homes, schools, and businesses). You can do this by posting this notice in a public place or distributing copies by hand or mail.

NOTICE OF TEMPORARY WATER SERVICE INTERRUPTION
Due to an unforeseen fire hydrant repair, water service has been temporarily turned off.

ALL residents should anticipate periods of reduced water pressure or possible water service interruption during the maintenance.

The estimated time for completion of the repair is approximately 4 hours. Water service will be restored as soon as the repair is complete.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding while crews complete this necessary repair.

ALL WATER SHOULD BE BACK ON. If you are still experiencing water disturbance, please call City Hall so we can investigate the situation. Thank you all again for your patience and understanding!

We have been made aware that the south side of town has been affected as well with the valve and leak replacement. The field guys are working on the situation and the water should be back on shortly. Sorry for the inconvenience.
