Thank you to everyone who came out for Clay on the Lake with Lowell Hutcheson. A special thank you to Lowell for conduction such a great program. Everyone had a wonderful time working with the clay on the lake shore. It will be interesting to see the clay in a few weeks after it has been fired.

Below is a link to the timing of tonight's partial (almost total) lunar eclipse. The sky looks cloudy here now so there may not be much to see, but if it is clear where you are look up at the moon to see it passing through the earth's shadow and changing color. The moon first enters the penumbra, or outer shadow. Then about an hour later the moon will enter the umbra or darker inner shadow, this is when a very noticeable color change to the moon will take place. For our area around 12:12 AM on Friday 08-28-2026 will be peak for the eclipse. I will post later if the Sterling Nature Center will be open for viewing. This will depend on cloud cover tonight.

These relaxed, easygoing sessions are designed for all experience levels. No pressure, just a chance to move, stretch, and reset in a peaceful setting.

Two session options each Thursday morning, choose what works best for you. Classes are free, but a small donation to the Friends of the Sterling Nature Center is appreciated.

Our Fall 2026 Children’s Nature Crafts programs are ready at Sterling Nature Center!

From bugs and leaves to fall nightlights and natural holiday decorations, these programs give kids a chance to explore nature and get creative along the way.

This fall’s programs include:

Leaf Rubbings
Harvest Candle Nightlights
Natural Holiday Decorations

Programs are for children in grades K-6 accompanied by a parent or guardian. Space is limited.
