The online auction for our 2009 International tandem truck is now live through Wednesday, September 9, 2026. The auction ends at 11:38 AM (we did not set that ending time).

Please feel free to share this post. The truck is available for inspection at 1807 Griswold Avenue, Sterling. It is currently parked near our gate and can be viewed at any time. If anyone wishes to look the truck over closer, please call 815-625-2785 to arrange a time to inspect it.

Finally, due to some major delays in getting everything lined up with the Union Pacific Railroad at the Stouffer Road railroad crossing, Martin & Company Excavating was able to complete the paving at the railroad tracks on Wednesday, August 26th. This project is now 100% complete.

The township appreciates everyone’s patience while we dealt with this delay.

Update:

6:00 am - Wednesday, August 12th

The intersection and Reno Road are fully open.

Reno Road is closed to through traffic due to an AT&T line down at the intersection of Reno Road and Woodlawn Road. The cable is approximately 4 feet above the road - do not attempt to pass under this cable. There is no estimated time of repair from AT&T, so Reno Road will remain closed to through traffic until further notice.

The highway department will be closed from noon Monday, July 27th until Thursday morning, July 30th. The staff will be attending a conference. In the event of an emergency, please call the Whiteside County Sheriff's Department at 815-772-4044.

East 29th Street (Wahl Clipper Road) will be closed between Illinois 40 and 6th Avenue from 7:00 am until approximately 2:00 pm today in order to replace a culvert. No through traffic is permitted and no detour will be posted.

Residents using Woodlawn Road - be aware of a portion of a tree that fell and is adjacent to the north edge of Woodlawn Road.

Part of the tree is caught in some cables. It was too dangerous to remove that part of tree in the dark. The Township will work with the utility company or companies who owns the cables strung from pole to pole to get the tree safely removed early next week.

There is also part of tree down along the west side of Parkview Road that was pushed off the the road just south of Woodlawn Road by the Woodlawn Arts Academy.

Each area has barricades indicating where the tree debris is located. Please drive with caution in these areas.

The Sterling Township Highway Department will be closed from Tuesday, June 30th until Monday, July 6th. The department will only be responding to emergency issues.

Please contact the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Department at 815-772-4044 if emergency assistance is required.

Update

Hickory Hills Road is fully open as of 6:30 am.

Hickory Hills Road is closed as of 4:15 am due to a tree that is down. Both lanes are blocked and there is no through traffic permitted.
