Today, a small group from CDS spent the morning at the library, where they listened to a story and enjoyed a calm, welcoming environment. We love seeing individuals participate in meaningful community experiences.

Whiteside County Health Department will be having an event celebrating our 60 Years in Public Health and 20 Years as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) providing care to our community.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, September 26th from 11am to 2pm in the Back Parking Lot of the Health Department at 1300 West 2nd Street, Rock Falls Illinois.

The event will feature a Touch-a-Truck, local food trucks, activity booths based on health department services and more for the whole family.

Rock River Valley Self Help Enterprises wishes to inform our Self Help family and the greater Sterling community of a fire that occurred on Friday, August 7th at our Recycling Center located at 2300 West LeFevre Road.

At approximately 1:00 p.m., a fire was reported in an outdoor cardboard collection area. Thanks to the rapid and coordinated response of multiple fire departments—including Sterling, Rock Falls, Dixon, Prophetstown, Morrison, Erie, Milledgeville, and Clinton—the fire was contained and extinguished. We are grateful to confirm that none of our employees or individuals receiving services were injured. One Sterling firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion at CGH Medical Center and has since made a full recovery.

The incident was confined to the front section of the recycling building and did not involve the compactor, contrary to some early reports.

At this time, the timeline for reopening the Recycling Center remains undetermined. We will continue to work closely with local officials and safety personnel to assess the damage and determine next steps. Updates will be shared with the community as more information becomes available.

We extend our sincere appreciation to all responding fire departments for their professionalism, teamwork, and dedication to community safety.

Good afternoon. As many of you have probably heard, there was a fire at our paper recycling building. All staff and individuals are ok. No one was near the fire. We are in the process of bussing all the individuals home that normally ride busses. Please stay away from the area and refrain from dropping off any kind of paper recycling for foreseeable future.

Our group had a fantastic time at Westwood today. Everyone enjoyed getting out on the tennis courts, staying active, and spending time together. We love seeing individuals participate in healthy, engaging activities

Jimmy has been working hard and staying focused on his jobs.

He has been a dependable and valued member of the team. His commitment to completing assigned responsibilities in a timely manner has contributed positively to departmental goals and when told a job needed to be completed, he got it completed and got it right!
