Throughout the year, "Warrior Wellness: One Conversation at a Time" series will share practical tips from trusted SHS staff to help SHS families support their teens and stay connected to the people and resources here to help.

This month's Warrior Wellness post comes from SHS Counselors Mrs. Carbaugh, Mr. Gale, Mrs. Hartman, and Mrs. Francis, who work alongside students and families every day to support academic, social, and emotional success.

Building steady routines around sleep, homework, and extracurriculars helps your student feel grounded as expectations ramp up. With a few intentional habits early on, you can set your student up for a confident, balanced year ahead.

Golden Warrior Saturday Scoreboard

Volleyball: The Golden Warriors (7-0) rolled to the championship of the Rockford Jefferson Invitational, going 4-0 on the day. Sterling defeated Stillman Valley 25-16, 25-16 in the championship match. Kasey Weeks (29 kills) and Nia Harris (24) continued their strong starts to the season, combining for 53 kills in the four matches. Kendall Barajas added 16 kills and 24 digs, Grace Springman had nine aces and 17 digs, and Sydney Giffin dished out 79 assists.
Next: Home opener Tuesday vs. Rockford Lutheran.

Boys Soccer: The Golden Warriors (4-1) won three of four matches at the 12-team Oregon Invitational to finish third. Sterling defeated Oregon 4-2 on Friday and Princeton 5-0 on Saturday morning before falling to Peoria Richwoods 4-1. The Golden Warriors bounced back with a 3-1 victory over Hinckley-Big Rock in the third-place match. Mauricio Herrera totaled seven goals and four assists in the four matches, while Derek Prieto added four goals and an assist.
Next: Western Big 6 opener Tuesday at home vs. Rock Island.

Girls Golf: The Golden Warriors finished third at the six-team Princeton Ryder Cup Invitational with a score of 197, trailing Rockridge (185) and LaSalle-Peru (194). Toni Martinez and Carli Cushman teamed to shoot a 96 and finish fifth.
Next: Wednesday at Lena-Winslow.

Girls Tennis: The Golden Warriors split dual matches with Geneseo and United Township, falling to Geneseo 4-1 before blanking UT 5-0. Senior Caylee Lyons won both of her matches in straight sets at No. 2 singles.
Next: Tuesday at home vs. Rock Island.
