The Conant Public Library’s Slackers Book Club is a self-service book club open to all readers. Stop by each month and pick up a copy of the most recent selection at the circulation desk. The book for June is The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn. There are no formal meetings, no questions to answer, no deadlines. It’s a dream for Slackers! You may love the book…or you may not! If you insist on doing something, we will have some special Slackers bookmarks available with the books. No registration necessary (of course!).

Are you interested in writing poetry? Adult writers of all caliber, beginner through advanced, are invited to join Upbeat Poets and discover that poetry is fun! This positive-only, no-pressure poetry workshop will take place at the library on the first Monday of each month from 2pm-3:30pm. Explore prompts, share your writing if you desire, and provide and receive support from peers in a critique-free setting. Registration is needed once for this 5-month series.

Everyone is invited to the Conant Public Library to paint a mini, summer-themed canvas to add to our July community bulletin board. Drop in to the library on Saturday, June 6th between 9:30 am and 1 pm to paint your canvas and enjoy a summery ice cream treat, then come back in July to see your masterpiece on display on the main level. No registration required; open to children and adults of all ages.

Do you have a houseplant that you no longer need and wish to trade, or do you want to share cuttings from some of your plants? Did you start too many tomatoes indoors? Come share the wealth! On Thursday, June 18th at 6:30 pm, adults and teens ages 13 and up, join our Plant Swap at the Conant Public Library to meet fellow plant enthusiasts and find the perfect new plant for your home. (Limit 5 plants or cuttings per person). Participants should label plants and plants should be in a container that you are ready to part with. Registration is required. There is one spot left in the Conant Public Library's annual Summer Cookie Swap! Bake seven dozen of your favorite cookies - some to enjoy during the exchange and others to pass out for later! Participants are asked to bring 14 loose cookies to sample during the program and 14 packages of 5 cookies to hand out to others. Let us know which type of cookie you will bring so we can ensure a wide variety - cookie choices are first come, first serve. Bring home a large selection of cookies to freeze and enjoy throughout the summer!
