The Sterling Volunteer Fire Company (SVFC) participated in the 75th Colonial Beach Fireman's Parade yesterday. This parade is lauded as the loudest Fireman's parade in the nation and kicks off The Colonial Beach annual River Festival weekend. Our volunteers took our beautiful 2023 Pierce Velocity (Engine 611), our 2023 Vengeant Sandstorm Brush truck (Brush 611) and our 2023 Ford Explorer Chaplain response unit (Utility 618B) to the festivities.

This year there were over 165 vehicles in this parade. The torrential rain let up just long enough to get the parade in. The residents of Colonial Beach are a hardy bunch as you can see, and the parade definitely lived up to it's reputation!

At the end of the night, Brush 611 was awarded 1st place in the brush truck group. We also received the "furthest" distance award for being the company that traveled farthest to join in the festivities.

A huge thank you to the Colonial Beach Volunteer Fire Department for continuing to host this event!

The William P. Knight Composite Squadron (Herndon, VA) of the Civil Air Patrol Virginia Wing will be hosting an American Red Cross Blood Donors blood drive, Operation Pulse Lift, in SVFC's Patton Hall on Friday, July 24, 2026 from 10:00 AM - 03:00 PM.

All gave some. Some gave all. The SVFC, with a rich history of volunteer members who have served this country, pauses today to remember and honor those who paid the ultimate price to defend our country and our freedoms. We thank them. May their lives and sacrifices on behalf of us all always be cherished and remembered.

18 years ago today the SVFC was part of the response to a fire on Meadowood Court, one of the most significant calls in the history of the Loudoun County Fire and Rescue system.
