On March 6th, 2024, at approximately 04:36hours, the Carmel Fire Department was dispatched to 6 Woodland Drive in the town of Carmel for a reported building fire. Upon arrival fire units found a 2 story residence, fully involved. Carmel Fire units with the assistance of mutual aid towns initiated defensive operations and the fire was deemed under control at 05:25hours.
We want to thank our mutual aid partners- Hermon Fire Department, Newburgh Fire & Rescue, Etna Fire Department, and the Levant Fire Department for their assistance. Both the homeowner and their pets made it out of the residence safely, prior to Fire units arriving on scene.
The Carmel Fire Department wants to remind all homeowners to check their smoke alarms monthly to ensure that they are functioning correctly.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Maine State Fire Marshall’s Office. Any further information pertaining to the investigation of this Fire will be released by the Fire Marshall’s office at a later date.
