We were proud to partner with ECDC Wausau for yesterday’s World Refugee Day event, coming together to create a space for our community to connect, learn, and engage in meaningful conversation. 💙

World Refugee Day is a time to honor the strength, courage, and resilience of those rebuilding their lives—and to recognize the generosity of those who welcome others with kindness and open hearts.

We celebrated the resilience of refugees and reflected on the power of community to create belonging, support, and opportunity for all.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the day so meaningful.

Thank you to the organizations, volunteers, community members, refugees, and local governance who attended our World Refugee Day event in collaboration with CAP Services, Inc.!

On World Refugee Day, we recognize the dignity, courage, strength, and resilience of refugees living in our communities. This year's theme, healthcare access for refugees, focused on community education and conversations around how to support the refugee community as they navigate losses in Medicaid and FoodShare in the coming months.

Thank you to Stevens Point Mayor, Mike Wiza; Portage County Executive, Eric Olson; and Chief of Police Edward Orgon at the Stevens Point Police Department for providing opening remarks and the World Refugee Day proclamation.

Today, we celebrate Juneteenth — a day that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and marks an important moment in our nation’s history. 💙

Juneteenth is an opportunity to reflect on the ongoing pursuit of freedom, opportunity, and dignity for all people. It reminds us that progress often requires persistence, partnership, and a commitment to removing barriers so individuals and families can reach their full potential.

As a Community Action Agency, CAP Services works alongside people and communities to create pathways to opportunity and strengthen economic and social well-being. While the challenges people face may differ, our work remains rooted in the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive.

On Juneteenth, we reflect on the importance of building stronger, more equitable communities and remain committed to supporting individuals and families across the communities we serve.

On Friday, the team at Prevail Bank - Stevens Point presented a check to Cindy and Hannah (pictured at right) with funds raised through the bank’s annual Shred Day event and donated to CAP’s Family Crisis Center. 💙

🐶❤️One of our staff newsletter favorites is Pet Spotlight, where we introduce the furry companions who keep our team smiling and our staff caption the photo.

We're sharing Daisy Mae, an adorable terrier mix who’s just shy of three years old. Staff member Amy and her family adopted Daisy Mae from a rescue when she was only eight weeks old, and she’s been overflowing with love ever since. During the winter, you’ll find her snuggled into her favorite blanket, patiently counting down the days until spring. Once the weather warms up, Daisy Mae is ready for her favorite activity—camping with her family and soaking up every outdoor adventure.

The winning caption for this photo was submitted by Bernice: "Not Monday again… I need to submit a weekend extension request form."
