Want to make a difference in your community while being part of an incredible event?

We're looking for volunteers to help with our Disability Proud Festival on Saturday, August 1 at Lake Pacawa Park in Plover!

Volunteer opportunities include:

📞 Stay Connected with TEPP!

Did you know Wisconsin residents with disabilities may qualify for assistance purchasing specialized telecommunications equipment through the Telecommunications Equipment Purchase Program (TEPP)?

TEPP helps people with disabilities access the telephone and communication services they need by providing vouchers for qualifying equipment. Whether it's making phone calls, video chatting with loved ones, accessing emergency services, or staying connected to your community, communication is essential to independence.

Eligible disability categories include:
✔️ Hard of Hearing
✔️ Severely Hard of Hearing or Deaf
✔️ Speech Disability
✔️ Mobility or Motion Disability
✔️ Deaf and Low Vision
✔️ Deaf and Blind

TEPP is funded by the Wisconsin Universal Service Fund (USF) and administered through Wisconsin's Public Service Commission.

🍳 The aprons are ready. The mixing bowls are set. The kitchen is waiting!

Today, we're welcoming a new group of chefs to our Ready, Set, Cook! Summer Series at the SPASH Life Skills Center! 👩‍🍳✨

Week 1 focuses on Kitchen Safety & First Aid, the foundation for building confidence and independence in the kitchen. Participants will learn how to safely use kitchen tools, prevent common accidents, and respond to minor kitchen mishaps, all while having fun in a supportive and welcoming environment!

We can't wait to see new friendships form, new skills develop, and confidence grow over the next six weeks!

An accessible and inclusive VR event by Midstate Independent Living Choices (MILC)

We're proud to help make our community more accessible - one step at a time.

In 2024, Midstate Independent Living Choices (MILC) received funding to support accessibility improvements in parks throughout our 11-county service area. A portion of those funds was designated for direct-impact projects that help create more inclusive outdoor spaces for everyone.

We're honored to partner with the Village of Plover and the Trzebiatowski family to continue expanding accessibility at Lake Pacawa Park through the installation of an adult changing table.

Many public spaces lack adult changing facilities. For caregivers and family members of adults with disabilities, this often means having to provide personal care on dirty, unsanitary restroom floors. Not only is this physically demanding and exhausting for caregivers, but it also compromises the dignity and comfort of the individual receiving care.

This new adult changing table helps address that need by providing a safe, clean, and dignified space for personal care. It reduces physical strain on caregivers while making it possible for more individuals with disabilities and their families to fully enjoy everything Lake Pacawa Park has to offer.

Accessibility isn't just about access - it's about dignity, inclusion, and belonging. We're grateful to the Village of Plover for their commitment to creating a more welcoming community for all!
