This week at Treatment Court, we celebrated Vera’s graduation from the program!

Vera said it best when asked about her change and growth, “I was a spitfire with a fast mouth to say the least when I started this program, and today I am able to step back and look at a situation for what it is and take responsibility where it’s due and make changes based off that. I went from fighting to stay alive to fighting generational curses! The fighter in me didn’t disappear, she evolved!”

We are so proud of Vera. Here are some program achievements:
Accomplishments
• Obtained and maintained sobriety throughout programming
• Repaired and strengthened relationships with children
• Built a supportive network in the recovery community
• Obtained purposeful and meaningful fulltime employment
• Went above and beyond completing community service
• Successfully completed and graduated from drug treatment court

Vera had many significant life challenges during programing and she didn’t let them get in the way of her recovery or personal growth. Reflecting on the experience, she shared: “This experience in the beginning sounded like misery to me.. it sounded like prison but in the outside world. I was happy to see that if somebody wants to put in honest effort and make changes, that the program can do so much for you and there are so many people behind you. Drug Court saved mine and my girl’s lives. They got me to a mindset where I wasn’t just surviving – I’m now thriving and my kids are thriving!”

Join us on congratulating Anthony for the tremendous amount of effort he put into his recovery from substance use dependency and into the program. The Treatment Team is so proud of your accomplishment and graduation from Portage County Treatment Court!

Anthony shared the following: “This program has helped me learn a lot about myself – that recovery can work and it’s real. I learned how to be sober and stay sober.

I feel like my life is more stable and I’m not on the streets worrying about where I’m going to sleep next, what I’m going to eat, or about danger if something bad is going to happen. I feel more safe than I ever have. I trust myself more. I actually have places to go, and I don’t have to worry about survival. I finally have a place I can call home again.”

Accomplishments
• Obtained and maintained sobriety through programming
• Repaired and strengthened family relationships
• Regained trust from family members
• Remained engaged in recovery community
• Obtained employment and a promotion
• Learned the value of Honesty
• Successfully completed and graduated from drug treatment court
