Wisconsin Lakes and Rivers Partnership People caring for the legacy of Wisconsin lakes through science, education and citizen involvement.

Extension Lakes is dedicated to preserving our Wisconsin legacy of lakes through education, communication, and collaboration. We are part of the Wisconsin Lakes Partnership: a statewide, multi-faceted effort that has reaches far beyond the core groups to include regional, county, tribal, non-profit, and federal partners. Our goal is to continue to protect and preserve our state waters and support those meeting the challenges that come with the management and stewardship of Wisconsin lakes.

75 years. 2,220 acres. One incredible bog. 🌿
🦆 Birds, ancient trees, rare plants & vibrant wetland life🐝
🏞️ A nationally recognized natural landmark and designated one of Wisconsin's Wetland Gems® by Wisconsin Wetlands Association.

Celebrate 75 years of state natural areas with Cedarburg Bog.

Once part of a glacial lake, the bog is a relict community – a southern example of the type more commonly found in northern Wisconsin and into Canada. In addition to serving as important habitat for over 300 species of migratory and breeding birds, this state natural area is home to over 360 plants, including 250-year-old cedar and tamarack trees, and more than 60 species of dragonflies and damselflies. It’s not hard to understand why this 2,220-acre site holds designation as a Wisconsin Wetlands Association Wetland Gem and a National Park Service National Natural Landmark.
