Stevenson Community Library

Stevenson Community Library A community library for the residents of Skamania county. When you're here, be sure to stop in to our library gallery to see what's on display.

Popular library programs provide entertainment and learning opportunities for all ages -- see a list of upcoming events. Individual artist exhibits may feature paintings, photos, quilts, tapestries or student artwork. Traveling exhibits often stop here in Stevenson. Our annual Artists of the Gorge juried art show has drawn interest to the community each year since it was first held in 1980. We hav

e a diverse collection of books and other materials. You can check out books on CD, non-fiction DVDs and large print materials as well. And of course we have materials on local history. The Skamania County Pioneer is available on microfilm back to 1900. You can use the library's microfilm reader/printer. Public access computers are available for use free of charge. You can search the Internet or type your report or resume. Bookmobile service is provided to outlying areas.

It's and we're celebrating by—big surprise—reading about them! If you want to learn more about our national treasures, or maybe read an engaging mystery set in one, we've created a book list for all ages. Find the right story for you at https://fvrlibraries.org/NationalParksList

National Park Week is underway!

Not sure what kind of park trip you’re looking for? We have options.

🌲 Explore nature: Watch bison in Yellowstone (From a safe distance. We’ve been over this.), hike among the giant trees in Sequoia, or hit the trails of Great Smoky Mountains.

🏛️ Explore history: Walk the battlefields of Gettysburg, explore the revolutionary history of Independence Hall, or learn about the Civil Rights Movement in Birmingham.

🌊 Explore something unexpected: Paddle the waters of Everglades, explore the underground in Mammoth Cave, or take in the rocky coastline of Acadia.

With more than 400 national parks across the country, there’s something for just about everyone, and probably a park, story, landscape, or experience you haven’t discovered yet.

Pack some snacks, check the weather, make a plan, and go explore your national parks.

Today!

Community Resilience Series: Smokescreen
Saturday, August 22, 2026
2:00pm–3:30pm

Join scientist, activist, and author of Smokescreen, Chad T. Hanson, to discuss how natural fires are as essential as sun and rain in fire-adapted forests. However, as humans encroach on wild spaces, fear, arrogance, and greed have shaped the way that people view these regenerative events and have given rise to misinformation. The peril that these myths pose to forests is profound-affecting whole habitats and the wildlife that depend on them-and mismanagement of these carbon dioxide-absorbing ecosystems threatens humanity's chances of overcoming the climate crisis.
