‼ Stevensville Traffic Safety Plan ‼

Thanks to a USDOT grant, the Village created a comprehensive plan to increase safety through strategic infrastructure improvements. Some recommendations can be done with current available funds, while other larger improvements will require grant funds.

🙏A big thank you to Robbie and his crew for funding, building and installing four new benches in the Village as part of his Eagle Scout project! 🫶

🐴 Near the horseshoe pits at Hickory Creek Park
🚣‍♀️ Along Hickory Creek in Jung Nature Area

They're great additions to our parks and we're sure they'll be put to good use for years to come! THANK YOU!! 🙏🙏🙏

‼STOP FOR PEDESTRIANS AT CROSSWALKS ‼

👨‍🦯🚶‍♀️The biggest feedback from the community is about pedestrian safety both downtown and in residential areas. Keep an eye out for pedestrians and stop for them at crosswalks.

STEVENSVILLE — The Hickory Creek Park Community Pavilion will officially open this Friday during Family Fun Night in downtown Stevensville.

Many residents noticed that speed limits increased in the Village about 3 years ago due to a required speed study. Unfortunately, the Village does not determine our own speed limits; the state does based on how fast people actually drive.

But there are some things the Village can do/will do/has done to reduce speeds - see 2nd photo.

🚴E-BIKES! 🚴‍♀️ We've seen a noticeable increase in e-bike use this summer resulting in new types of safety concerns. Michigan law has limited regulations and local municipalities can enact ordinances beyond state law in some instances.

👀 Learn more about what state law says about e-bikes and what Village Council has discussed to address community safety concerns. The proposed e-bike ordinance will be discussed at the next Council meeting on September 3.

📣 Introducing ‼ Slow Down, Stevensville ‼ a collaborative effort between the Village of Stevensville and Lincoln Township Police Department to reduce speeds and increase safety for drivers, bikers and walkers in the Village. 🚘🚴🚶

The 2-week campaign will include:

🚨Increase traffic patrols & ticketing

📝Sharing of planned infrastructure improvements

🏡Yard sign campaign

🔢 Data sharing

🫶 Sharing things you can do as drivers, bikers and pedestrians to increase community safety
