Spotted Lanternfly (SLF) news! A recent Penn State study shows birds like to snack on SLF if the SLF had NOT been feeding from tree of heaven (TOH)! SLF feeding from TOH taste toxic and bitter to the birds. When SLF feed from other types of trees/vines, native birds found them tasty! The Kent Island Garden Club met today and after our business meeting, enjoyed a program presented by Diana Bonner and Linda Elias on ‘Art in Bloom’. Prior to the demonstration, a slideshow was presented to the members on past art and bloom programs to give members ideas on floral interpretations. A physical demonstration on how to interpret Art with Flowers was presented to members by Diana and Linda to encourage members to participate in this year’s “Art Bloom”, being held at the Kent Island Art Federation opening on June 5, 2025. After the program bouquets were made and given to our May birthday members.
