The Chief’s office and members of the Stewart Manor Fire Department regret to announce the passing of 57 year member and Honorary Chief Carl Barone. Carl was a friend to all in the department and held various positions through his career as a volunteer fireman for the manor. Early in his career, he rose through the ranks and held the position of captain of Emergency and Relief Company #3. He also served as the department treasurer for 35 years, utilizing his background as a CPA to further serve the department. Carl will be remembered for his love of the department, his friendly sense of humor, and nature to befriend all members. He was the senior man to all and will be greatly missed.

We will always remember all those who lost their lives 24 years ago today on September 11th, 2001 and all those we have lost as a result of 9/11 related illness. God bless the 343 firefighters, 23 police officers, 37 port authority police officers, and 8 EMS workers who made the ultimate sacrifice while saving others.

This year’s July 4th Parade and BBQ was another great success! Thank you to all who came out and supported this great annual tradition. Also - thank you to all departments who came from all over to join in on the fun. Special shoutout to for winning best overall appearing department!

Key Updates & Route Change:
The Stewart Manor Fire Department July 4th Parade and BBQ committee has worked hard over the past 6 months to plan this year’s parade. Please see the attached for some updates and changes.

**New Parade Route**
Start: Salisbury Avenue at Covert Avenue (eastern end)

Route: Continues down Dover Parkway → Cambridge Avenue → Tulip Avenue

End: Tulip Avenue at Covert Avenue

Note: Fire trucks will stage along Covert Avenue (Stewart Manor side) from the bank lot to Salisbury Avenue
Important: No portion of the parade will take place on the traditional Covert Avenue route.
**Safety & Viewing Guidelines**
Covert Avenue is a dry zone – No water balloons or water of any kind permitted.

Expect increased crowding along the new route. If you’ve traditionally viewed from Stewart or Covert Avenue, please consider:

Dover Parkway (between Chester Ave and Cambridge Ave)

Cambridge Avenue (from Dover Pkwy to Tulip Ave)

Please ensure children stay behind barricades, especially when fire trucks are passing.

Respect neighbors’ property and fellow spectators at all times.

On Saturday October 5th, the Stewart Manor Fire Department conducted fire prevention demonstrations with the Floral Park Fire Department at the annual Covert Ave. street fair. Demonstrations included extinguishing fires in a dryer and oven, as well as vehicle extrication. Thank you to all who came out.
