:Statement From The Sheriff:

Regarding the ongoing posts about the incident that occurred last night.

The situation in the area at the time was dynamic, and due to a second call in the same general area, deputies responded accordingly based on the information available to them. Ultimately, the two calls were determined to be related in nature. The 2nd call was in regards to an individual who, we were told, had made statements to “self harm by police”.

No one was taken to jail, and Mr. Suttles was only briefly detained for officer safety. We sincerely apologize if the response caused concern; however, the actions taken were necessary to ensure the safety of both the public and our deputies while addressing the calls for service.

Road conditions throughout Haskell County are continuing to deteriorate and are becoming slick and hazardous. Deputies are already seeing unsafe driving conditions on multiple roadways. We strongly encourage the public to slow down, increase following distance, and avoid sudden braking or sharp turns.

If travel is not absolutely necessary, please stay off the roads and remain at home until conditions improve. Reducing traffic helps prevent crashes and allows emergency responders to reach those who truly need assistance. Your cooperation helps keep both the public and first responders safe during these conditions.

It's with a sad heart that we say goodbye to a truly irreplaceable man. Officer Jeral Davis was a true friend to everyone he met. Jeral truly loved being a part of the Police department , loved putting on the uniform and everything it stood for. He loved working school ball games and for the first assembly on Wednesday nights. I can honestly say he made me a better man and a better Officer. He is in a better place walking hand in hand with his wife.
