✨ A Wonderful Start to the Fall Semester! ✨

The GPSGA Fall Welcome Reception and First General Assembly Meeting brought together our graduate and professional student community for an evening filled with meaningful conversations, new connections, and great energy.

🧡 Honoring the Leadership and Support Behind GPSGA 🖤

Before sharing the highlights from our first General Assembly meeting and Welcome Reception, we would like to take a moment to recognize and sincerely thank everyone whose leadership, dedication, and support contributed to GPSGA’s success over the past academic year.

A heartfelt thank you to our past Executive Committee for your outstanding service, commitment, and advocacy for the graduate and professional student community. Your hard work established a strong foundation for the incoming Executive Committee to continue building upon.

We are especially grateful to our former advisor, Dr. Matt Lowern, for the continuous guidance, encouragement, and support provided to GPSGA and its student leaders.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to the Graduate College deans, university leadership, and campus partners for their continued commitment to supporting GPSGA and our graduate and professional students.

Finally, thank you to all our representatives, liaisons, committee members, and student leaders. Your time, voices, collaboration, and dedication played an essential role in GPSGA’s accomplishments throughout the past year.

GPSGA had a wonderful time participating in this year’s Student Involvement Fair at the OSU Student Union. It was a pleasure connecting with new and returning graduate and professional students, introducing them to GPSGA, and sharing the many opportunities available for involvement, leadership, funding, and community engagement.

New Graduate Student Orientation 2026✨🤠🧡

GPSGA was honored to participate in the 2026 New Graduate Student Orientation organized by the Graduate College!

We were grateful for the opportunity to welcome incoming graduate students, introduce them to GPSGA, and share the many resources, programs, and opportunities available to support them throughout their graduate journey at Oklahoma State University.

During the Panel Discussion, the GPSGA Executive Committee 2026 , shared valuable advice, personal experiences, and helpful insights to support new students as they begin this exciting chapter.

🌟 Meet Digvijay “Jay” — GPSGA President! 🌟

Digvijay, also known as Jay, was born and raised in India. He is currently a doctoral candidate in the Department of Plant and Soil Sciences at Oklahoma State University and serves as a Graduate Research Assistant. His research focuses on the growth and development of continuous and rotational corn–cotton cropping systems under limited-water conditions in the water-scarce Oklahoma Panhandle.

Jay holds a Master’s degree in Agricultural Regulations, where his research focused on rice economics in Arkansas, and a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering. Throughout his academic journey, he has received multiple oral and poster presentation awards, including recognition at the 2024 Oklahoma Governor’s Water Conference.

Outside of academics, Jay enjoys camping, hiking, stargazing, cooking, long walks on breezy days, and long drives in the rain. He also stays informed about global geopolitical, economic, and defense issues. During 2025–26, Jay served as GPSGA Parliamentarian, demonstrating a strong commitment to upholding and protecting the GPSGA Constitution.

🌟 Meet Chisom - GPSGA Vice President! 🌟

Chisom is originally from Nigeria, where she earned her Master’s degree in Plant Physiology and Biochemistry before coming to the U.S. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Crop Science at Oklahoma State University and serves as a Graduate Teaching and Research Assistant in the Department of Plant and Soil Sciences.

Her research focuses on optimizing phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) management across wheat-based double-cropping systems, work that keeps her actively engaged both in the field and in the lab.

Chisom is passionate about volunteering, leadership, and community service and has held leadership roles since high school. Among these experiences, she served as Vice President of the Agro Allied Community Development Service, where she earned the nickname “Change Agent” for her commitment to making a positive impact.

Outside of research and academics, Chisom enjoys traveling, exploring different cultures, and experiencing new cuisines.

As GPSGA Vice President, Chisom hopes to strengthen the voice of graduate and professional students and ensure that every student’s concerns are heard where decisions are made.

She is excited to serve, connect, and contribute to a stronger and more inclusive graduate and professional student community at OSU 🧡

🌟 Meet Diani— GPSGA General Secretary 🌟

Diani is originally from Sri Lanka and earned her Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Honours) degree from University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka before coming to the U.S. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Comparative Biomedical Sciences at the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM), Oklahoma State University. Her research focuses on understanding how astrocytes in the brainstem contribute to obesity-induced hypertension and exploring potential therapeutic approaches to reduce the increased neural activity that drives high blood pressure. She also serves as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in Comparative Anatomy and is passionate about science communication, particularly making complex scientific concepts more accessible and engaging to broader audiences.

At OSU, Diani served as President of the Sri Lankan Student Association (2024–25) and Social Chair of the CVM Graduate Student Association. She has also served as a GPSGA Representative and Ambassador and as a Cowboy Care Ambassador.

Outside of academics, she enjoys listening to music, writing lyrics and composing melodies, playing 8-ball pool and bowling, and spending quality time with loved ones. She also loves stepping outside her comfort zone, trying new things, and gaining new experiences.

As GPSGA Secretary, Diani hopes to amplify student voices, strengthen communication, and advocate for greater awareness of mental health resources and services across the graduate and professional student community.

She is excited to serve, connect, and contribute to a supportive and inclusive graduate and professional student community at OSU! 🧡

🌟Meet Naga, GPSGA Treasurer 🌟

Nagarajan is originally from Madurai, Tamil Nadu, a culturally rich heritage city in southern India. He is a Ph.D. student in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and a Graduate Research Assistant in the Department of Mechanical at Oklahoma State University.

His research focuses on the synthesis and characterization of high-entropy alloy nanoparticles for energy applications, with expertise in electron microscopy and advanced materials characterization. He completed his bachelor’s degree in India and earned his master’s degree in Singapore before beginning his doctoral journey at OSU.

Naga has been actively involved in student leadership and service, previously serving as a Student Senator in SGA and as a member of the Executive Committee of the International Students Organization for two years. He is also a proud member of the Phi Beta Delta Honor Society, recognizing his commitment to international education and global engagement.

Beyond academics, Naga is a marathon runner who enjoys traveling, gardening, cooking, and embracing new adventures. He is passionate about community service, promoting cultural diversity, and creating meaningful connections among students.

As the Treasurer of GPSGA for this academic year, Nagarajan is excited to work with the executive board to support, serve, and contribute to the graduate student community across Oklahoma State University 🧡🤠
