Earlier this month, the Board of Commissioners passed a resolution declaring May 2026 Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. We honor the history, culture, and contributions of the estimated 27,500 people of Asian descent who call Washington County home.

Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month takes place each year in May. It was first observed in 1990, and in 1992, Congress passed legislation that annually designated the month.

Communities celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month with festivals, educational programs, and other activities that center on cultural history. We thank and celebrate the contributions of our Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander staff and community members.
