The City of Stillwater and I join our community in mourning the passing of former Mayor Calvin Anthony, whose lifetime of service and leadership helped shape Stillwater for generations.
A respected former mayor, state representative, pharmacist, lifelong business owner of Stillwater’s Tiger Drug Company, former CEO for the National Community Pharmacists Association in Washington, D.C., and longtime member of the Oklahoma State University/A&M Board of Regents, Calvin dedicated his life to serving others. His commitment to public service, health, education, and community leadership reflected his belief that strong communities are built through service, integrity, and opportunity.
Throughout his career, Calvin championed causes that strengthened Stillwater and supported the success of countless students, families, and businesses. Whether serving at City Hall, the SMC Board, the Oklahoma Legislature, or on the OSU/A&M Board of Regents, he approached every role with humility, wisdom, and a genuine desire to make a difference.
Calvin's honors include induction into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame in 2020, Stillwater Chamber of Commerce's Citizen of the Year and the Calvin J. Anthony Leadership Award named in his honor by the National Community Pharmacists Association. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched and the lasting impact of his service to Stillwater and the State of Oklahoma.
On a personal note, Calvin was a true inspiration to me. His time as mayor was during my childhood here in Stillwater, but I was fortunate in the last few years to serve with him on the hospital board, and I saw up close his dedication, care, and wisdom for our community. I truly valued his counsel and his support.
We extend our deepest condolences to Linda, their children and grandchildren, and all who knew and loved him. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Anthony family.
