Congratulations to Detective McAvoy, who was recently presented with the Recognition of Excellence Award at the 2026 Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Annual New Jersey Law Enforcement Awards Ceremony in New Brunswick.

This award recognized Detective McAvoy’s outstanding effort in 2025 to traffic safety and impaired driving enforcement, as well as her continued commitment to protecting our roadways and keeping our community safe.

Your safety starts before the trip begins. Passengers should always verify the driver, vehicle, and license plate information in their rideshare app before entering a vehicle. Take a moment to check that the driver’s credential placard and required identifying markers are properly displayed.

Drivers, help keep riders safe by ensuring all required credentials and vehicle identifiers are clearly visible and up to date in accordance with Sami’s Law.

A few extra seconds of verification can help prevent confusion and keep every ride safe and secure.

The New Jersey LGBTQ+ Law Enforcement Liaisons walked alongside law enforcement partners, community leaders, and members of the community in a celebration of visibility, inclusion, and unity at the New Jersey Pride Parade.

Attorney General Jennifer Davenport and First Assistant Attorney General Katherine J. Calle also participated in the event, speaking and marching in support of the LGBTQ+ community. The parade highlighted the importance of building strong community partnerships and fostering an environment where everyone feels seen, respected, and valued. We are proud to be a part of this event.

On Friday, June 5th, members of the Long Hill Police Department participated in the 43rd annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics. LHPD officers were among thousands of other officers across the state who carried the "Flame of Hope" in effort to raise awareness for the Special Olympics. Pictured below at Vintage Tavern, LHPD had the torch passed to them by members of the Berkeley Heights Police Department and New Providence Police Department. From there, LHPD officers ran a 5-mile leg across town to the border of Basking Ridge, where the Torch made its way into Bernards Township for its next leg.

LHPD is proud to participate in this incredible event every year.

***Road Closure due to water main break***

Be advised, Division Avenue is CLOSED between Valley Rd and Meadowview Rd due to a water main break at the intersection of Division Ave and Stonehouse Rd. Stonehouse Rd is also CLOSED to through traffic. Detours are as follows:

Stonehouse Rd (from Bernards Twp): Detour down River Rd to Valley Rd to Northfield Rd.

Division Ave at Valley Rd: Detour Valley Rd to Northfield Rd to Long Hill Rd.

Division Ave at Meadowview Rd: Detour down Meadowview Rd to Northfield Rd.

Officers are on scene to assist with traffic at this time. Please drive with caution on the detour routes

Some residences and businesses may be without water for a period of time. NJAW is on scene at this time for repairs.
