Stockbridge Police Department, Michigan Police and Community working together for a brighter future

05/12/2026

To the citizens of the Village of Stockbridge and Stockbridge Township, it has been a pleasure working here for the last 3 years. I Sgt Howe am officially announcing that I am leaving the Stockbridge Police Department tomorrow Wednesday May 13th.
I have decided to semi-retire and my Wife and I are moving up North for the opportunity to spend more time with Family, which I have not had in my 26 years of Law Enforcement.
I enjoyed the Time I served in your Police Department and I hope I made a difference.
I was honored to become Sgt and Interim Chief for a brief time, and to help guide this Department.
You are being left in good hands with Chief Krause at the helm, and you have two good patrol officers in Officer Smith and Officer Allen, and im proud to say I trained them both.

Best wishes to the community.

SGT Joshua Howe

Officer Allen received his life-saving award for his actions in December, on the scene of a crash where he and a Deputy pulled the driver out of a burning car. The driver clearly would have perished if not for the actions of Officer Allen.

We are extremely proud of Officer Allen and are honored to present him with this award.

Last night, Officer Allen responded to a car accident involving a collision with a tree. Upon arrival, Officer Allen, observed the vehicle was on fire. With steadfast courage, Officer Allen, along with Ingham County Sheriff Deputy Tabeling, pulled the driver from the burning vehicle, saving his life.
The driver suffered severe injuries and was treated by SAESA and transported to the hospital, where he's been admitted for medical care.
We are Proud of Officer Allen for his quick actions. We honor all the officers who keep our community safe each day, often without recognition and always without hesitation.

Please remember this time of year is very difficult for those in need. There are a lot of people who struggle during the Holidays. Many of us are blessed with the basics that others dont have.

We see more mental health calls during the Holidays than at any other time of year. Please reach out to neighbors, friends, and family, and make sure they are OK. This is a hard time of the year for people, and we all need each other more than we realize!
Have a blessed Holiday Season.
