#1.

It is a newborn safety device, not a "baby box". We do not want legislators to think this is a vendor bill.
#2. Do not get pulled into an argument about abortion. This is not a pro- life/ pro- choice issue. These babies are already born.
#3. This is a voluntary program, not a mandate. We are only asking for the state law to allow the use of these devices if a city/ county/ municipality wants to in

stall one.
#4. If a baby is surrendered in an infant safety device or face-to-face, the same protocol is followed. Surrender of a healthy, unharmed baby under 30 days old with no questions asked and no risk of prosecution has been a law in Georgia for over 20 years. That doesn't change. The difference is anonymity.

Yesterday I had an adventure, and y'all know I love an adventure!!!! I started my day in Woodburn, IN at Safe Haven Baby Boxes. Monica, Joe, Mariah and Larry met me there and loaded Georgia's first baby box in the truck and gave me a tour of their facility. I got to see where all the magic happens!!! It wasn't fancy, but I could feel the love and the pride they all have in the amazing work that they do. After spending a little time visiting with them, I hit the road. 655 miles, 5 states, no rain....and 10 hours later I had the pleasure of delivering the very first baby box in Georgia to HCFR Station 6. It won't be long and they will be ready for the blessing of this box that was donated through the generosity of everyone at Stockbridge Community Church. This has been a 3 year long labor of love. I have met so many people and made some new friends along the way. I am thrilled that we are so close to accomplishing the goal of bringing newborn safety devices to Georgia!
