We are very happy to see alot of people using and enjoying our new basketball backboards at the town hall park ! Today I was there shooting hoops with my son, and I got to meet two other local hoopers, Peter and Paul (sorry I didn't catch your last names), and I got quite an education in basketball history ! Building community through opportunities created through our parks and recreation initiatives like purchasing new backboards is what I had hoped to accomplish when running for the board, and today was a perfect example of that. I couldn't be more grateful to our board and our town for voting to have them installed. Thank you !

- Joanne Lenski

And thanks to my fellow board member Nicole Faireux for leading the initiative to install our new frisbee golf course next to our soccer field on Park St ! We are still working on setting up the course with signage, tee pads, and circles for the baskets. We are currently welcoming public feedback on the course. If you are a frisbee golf enthusiast or a total beginner, and have questions or comments about the course, feel free to email our board at: [email protected] or watch this how to video for more info !

Dear Stockbridge voters, I wanted to take a minute to thank all of you for the opportunity to serve the town of Stockbridge as a Parks and Rec commissioner for the last 5 years. I had planned on running for another term this year to continue with the great things we have accomplished but ultimately made the decision not to run. A small government position like Parks and Rec may not seem like it would be very time consuming but you would be surprised how much happens in this little town, especially in the summertime. I feel that the position deserved someone who can continue to give it their full attention. Many of you know me as owner of Nick Fredsall Electric and most recently as owner of Stockbridge Drone Solutions. Some of you may also know me as the electrical inspector for the town of Stockbridge, a position I have held for nearly 20 years, as well as for the town of Monterey. Additionally I recently took on the position as electrical inspector for the town of Richmond as well. In January I offered my skills to Berkshire Mountain Search And Rescue Team in the search for missing Richmond resident Susan Lockwood and soon became a member as one of three drone pilots. In the months that followed, the other two pilots dropped out for different reasons, leaving me as the sole member of BMSAR drone team. I have decided that this is where I want to focus my attention.
When I first ran for P&R it was for a variety of reasons, one of which being the condition of the skate park. The grass was 2 feet tall growing out of the cracks in the asphalt, there were no lights for night use and the soccer field was so neglected that the group playing soccer there on the weekends would mow it themselves. During the first meeting I attended before my first election, one of the members on the committee offered to purchase Adirondack chairs for the beach as long as she got reimbursed when the new fiscal year started because P&R had no money left. We changed all that, got budget increases and the properties are now well maintained and repairs continuously taking place. I am very proud of that but my kids are grown now, in college and working their own jobs and it’s time to pass the torch to someone else. So many projects have been accomplished in 5 years.
I met with Katie Szwyd and talked with her for a little while and I’m sure she will do a great job for the right reasons which is why I will vote for her today and hope you will also. You’ll have 3 great moms, all with young children making great decisions that will provide opportunities for young people and families whether they live here or are just visiting. Carry on ladies. ~ Nick Fredsall

This may be the most spectacular drone video you have ever seen!! The landscape of the northern Berkshire Hills, completely covered in ice in conjunct with sun and shadows makes the topography just come alive. It was a perfect day to fly up here and the DJI Mavic 3 Cine didn’t let me down. It may look easy but believe me, keeping the panning smooth and steady while flying sideways and backwards and then transitioning to forward again is no easy task and it’s all done freehand, no Mastershots here! Enjoy the video and feel free to comment or ask questions. Thanks for watching!
