I have just put in a request to the Mayor to have the flag at Stockton City Hall lowered for this coming week in honor of Rev Jesse Jackson. He was one of the few Presidential candidates that came to Stockton and he came on several occasions.

More than 45 million black Americans know about, acknowledge, and celebrate the struggles of many other ethnic groups history. Such as St. Patrick’s Day, Cinco de Mayo, and the Passover. However, we have little or no knowledge of what God has done for us as Black people. God spoke to Abraham Lincoln and on January 1, 1863, Abraham Lincoln, president of the United States at that time freed all blacks from slavery. President Abraham Lincoln sign what is known to us as the emancipation proclamation.

Although Abraham Lincoln signed the emancipation proclamation on January 1, 1863, Texas was the last state in the union to learn about the emancipation proclamation being signed. Therefore, Texas recognizes June 19, 1865, 2 1/2 years later as their freedom date.

The Stockton black leadership council is committed to reaching every black household across the United States to let them know that Abraham Lincoln signed the emancipation proclamation on January 1, 1863. Which declared all slaves be freed. Abraham Lincoln was instructed by God just as Moses was to set up the tabernacle on the first day of the first month. Exodus 40.

Join us on January 1, 2026 to celebrate and show God our appreciation for 163 years of being free from slavery.
