Last evening DTFC volunteers were sent to the area of the Wescott Preserve for an injured hiker approx. a half mile down the trail. A low angle rescue, set up by RE47 and RE17, was required to bring the subject up to the trail. The patient was then loaded on to Gator 47 and brought to the parking area. A medical helicopter was used to transport the patient to a trauma center. Thank you to Lambertville-New Hope Ambulance Corps, Lambertville Fire Department, Hunterdon Medical Center MICU, and Stockton OEM. for their assistance on scene.

Early this morning, DTFC and surrounding mutual aid units were dispatched to Box 4706 for a reported barn fire. Chief 47 arrived on scene to find one barn fully involved and a two-story detached garage with fire showing from the eaves. Crews were able to knock down the fire in under 20 minutes, while overhaul operations on the original barn continued for nearly two hours.
A total of 20 DTFC volunteers responded to the incident. We would like to thank our mutual aid partners who assisted on scene, hauled water to the fireground, and provided station coverage during the incident.
Our thoughts are with the families affected by this fire. The incident remains under investigation by the New Jersey Division of Fire Safety.

Just after 5 AM Friday morning DTFC’s rapid intervention team was requested into East Amwell Twp for the dwelling fire with reports of people still inside. Chief 48 confirmed a working fire, and was able to confirm everyone was outside of the home. Rescue Engine 47 arrived as the second due engine spliting the crew. One crew opened up for the inital hand line. The second half of the crew stretched a back up line into the basement extinguishing fire in the basement. Tender 47 was also requested and made the response. DTFC volunteers worked the scene for around 90 minutes while an additional crew staffed the firehouse. 13 volunteers responded on the alarm. Great work by all responding companies limited the damage to the home.

Last evening DTFC volunteers worked on vehicle extrication. A challenging scenario was set up by Deputy Chief Brancato and Lieutenant Locandro where a vehicle overturned partial ejecting the occupant trapping them under the vehicle. As if this was not challenging enough a tree fell on the vehicle. Stabilization, lifting, cutting, and spreading were all required to complete the operation. Our volunteers love when the weather turns to be able to get outside weekly to train. All that was missing is you! Fill out an application today!

The warm weather this week kept the DTFC volunteers busy. Wednesday afternoon box 4706 was alerted for an outbuilding fire. Less than 10 minutes later a second outbuilding fire was alerted in box 2653. Engine 47 and Engine 91 handled the first fire in approx. an hour. Rescue Engine 47 responded on the 26 box and assisted on scene for a couple hours. Yesterday shortly after 10 AM a major motor vehicle accident was alerted for the intersection of Ferry Rd and Route 523. 1 vehicle was overturned with a second into a structure. The Hunterdon County USAR task force was needed to stabilize the residence. Mix in a training night and a few false alarms throughout the week. Thank you to our mutual aid partners who assisted at various scenes. Shout out to Northeast Bravest for the attached video. As well as shout out to friendly sons of Saint Patrick Hunterdon County for lunch yesterday during the MVA. Interested in something different every single day? Stop down any Wednesday night to see what we are all about.

Sunday evening, just before 10pm box 1604 was alerted for a possible house fire. Rescue Engine 47, Tender 47, and all three Chiefs responded. Chief 16 reported a working bedroom fire with fire showing. A quick knock down and a closed bedroom door limited damage to the home.
