Project Stockton IGNITE's Community Ambassadors are getting to work, bringing their experiences, perspectives and connection to community into Stockton’s Community Needs Assessment and Strategic Plan for recreation and libraries.

Last night, our Community Ambassadors heard from three professional consultants with expertise in recreation and libraries, learned more about the work ahead, asked questions and started digging into the needs of our community.

And that conversation matters! Measure M provides critical funding for Stockton’s recreation and library programs, services and facilities. This assessment will help us better understand community needs and make sure Stockton residents have a voice in the process.

Community Services Department staff were also part of the evening, answering questions, sharing insight and connecting directly with our Ambassadors as we begin this work together.

Over the coming months, our Ambassadors will be out in the community listening and connecting with residents across Stockton. We’ll also have events and opportunities coming up for you to join the conversation, share what matters to you and help us better understand the needs of our community.

We want your voice in the conversation. Stay tuned.

“You can never get enough books into the hands of enough children.” - Dolly Parton

Today we join so many in mourning the loss of Dolly Parton. Singer, songwriter, and champion for kindness and literacy.

Dolly founded the Imagination Library in 1995. Since its founding the Imagination Library has placed millions of books into the hands of young children. Many from here in California.

Thank you, Dolly, for helping generations of children discover the magic of books. May her incredible legacy shine on

⚾📚 From Taiwan to Mountain House Library! 🇹🇼

Mountain House Library recently welcomed members of a Taiwanese Little League team on their way to the Little League World Series in Pennsylvania. During their visit, players explored the library’s Manga collection and checked out a special display highlighting the history of Manga.

We love seeing our libraries become places where people from near and far can learn, explore and connect.

Safe travels and good luck to the team! ⚾

📚 Manga, community and connection at Mountain House Library!

Local high school students recently stopped by to learn about Manga history and explore our Manga collection. The visit also brought together community members and local leaders for conversation, connection and a few root beer floats along the way.

A big thank you to our Mountain House Library staff for creating a space where young people can explore what interests them and feel connected to their community.
