📐 Building Stronger Math Instruction Across San Joaquin County!

We are excited to launch the Math Professional Learning Partnership (MPLP) Regional Improvement Community (RIC) in partnership with New Hope Elementary School!

The RIC brings educators together to support implementation of the California Mathematics Framework and strengthen high-quality mathematics instruction.

Through collaborative inquiry cycles, shared measures of progress, and ongoing problem-solving, educators will explore instructional strategies, learn from one another, and use evidence to guide improvements in mathematics teaching and learning.

This partnership is about more than sharing ideas. It creates opportunities for educators to identify challenges, test strategies, learn from results, and continuously improve math instruction so that every student has opportunities to engage in meaningful mathematics and develop a positive mathematical identity.

We look forward to learning alongside New Hope Elementary School as we strengthen mathematics teaching and learning across San Joaquin County!

Educators had a lot of fun last night at our Sphero Teacher Hackathon, a Cal-MSCS Local Community of Practice. Teachers coded, built, and collaborated, and explored how students can learn California Computer Science standards in fun and engaging ways.

On November 3rd we'll host an Apple Teacher Hackathon. We'll focus on computation and artificial intelligence. Participating educators will earn a $125 stipend. You can register at https://bit.ly/CALMSCSapplehackathon

Today was the first meet of the San Joaquin Delta RECF robotics leagues (AM & PM), which compete at the SJCOE FabLab. Both leagues are full! There are hundreds of students participating. Students from Stockton Unified, Tracy Unified School District, Banta Unified, Manteca Unified, and Lodi Unified bring their robots to compete, collaborate, and engineer. The robots are already amazing and students will be improving them as the season progresses!

A little curiosity, a little imagination, and a whole lot of “You got this!”

Manteca Unified students joined us for two separate one-day Let’s Play Outside camps packed with adventure, laughter, and hands-on discovery!

Students cast their fishing lines, explored the riverbank, got creative with fish-inspired art, tested their engineering skills, and cheered each other on through friendly competitions. Every challenge brought opportunities to experiment, work together, and celebrate those “I did it!” moments!

Join us for Beyond the Numbers: Teaching the Math Practices, an interactive professional learning experience designed to bring the Standards for Mathematical Practice to life. Explore practical strategies that foster curiosity, productive struggle, mathematical discourse, and student agency in mathematics.
