Officer Rosa Arellano is grateful to be part of the Lincoln Unified Public Safety Department, using her position to engage, communicate and make positive changes for students while keeping our campuses safe. Last June, Officer Arellano joined our Public Safety Department to begin a new phase in her law enforcement career. We appreciate her hard work and dedication to protecting Lincoln schools as an overnight patrol officer!

This is Officer Arellano’s first time stationed in school environments after more than four years working corrections for the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office. As a San Joaquin Delta College POST Academy graduate who is aiming to achieve an associate’s degree in social science, Officer Arellano aims to be a helper who promotes positivity for those she works to protect. She sees her current position as an opportunity to educate youth with positive guidance and redirection by being a good mentor and making students aware of available resources.

During her overnight patrols, Officer Arellano travels between all Lincoln Unified campuses to prevent vandalism and ensure security at our schools. When she’s available, she also directs traffic during morning drop-off times and helps manage after-school pickup hours. Officer Arellano intends to foster trust and build relationships with parents and guardians, and encourages them to contact the Public Safety Department if they have any questions or concerns for her.

Officer Arellano is proud to be a public safety officer in her hometown, making positive changes for all at Lincoln Unified Schools. We are happy to have her as part of the Lincoln family!

Today marks one year since the loss of a kind, compassionate and courageous friend to our community and the Lincoln Public Safety Department. LUSD Safety Officer Kosta Panos was always committed to helping students, staff and families at our schools, most recently making all feel welcome while he was stationed at John McCandless. Officer Panos showed exemplary leadership and was an inviting, friendly presence to all he worked with.

Officer Panos died on January 29, 2025, due to ongoing health complications. We mourn his loss and warmly remember all he did to make Lincoln Unified schools safe for all. Officer Panos, thank you for your many years of service to this department.

We’re proud to have Officer Ashley Sevilla with us in the Lincoln Unified Public Safety Department! She is currently filling in for Officer Dowd at Claudia Landeen, and will begin overnight patrols of all Lincoln campuses later this year.

Officer Sevilla joined Lincoln Unified last year as a paraprofessional, working with students at Colonial Heights and the Riverbrook Preschool campus. This job taught her patience and provided many learning opportunities as she found ways to communicate with students in a variety of ways, including nonverbal communication.

Officer Sevilla also spent two years working as a campus security officer for San Joaquin Delta College, and received an associate’s degree in criminal justice last May. She sees law enforcement as an opportunity to help others in her community, and brings this belief to her work keeping Lincoln Unified campuses safe.

As part of her training with this district, Officer Sevilla has worked at many Lincoln campuses to gain a greater understanding of each community’s needs. Most recently in her time at Claudia Landeen, she has grown to appreciate the work teachers, administrators and office staff do to remain calm and accepting of all students while approaching every day as a new opportunity to develop meaningful connections between students and all staff.

Officer Sevilla appreciates every opportunity she has to speak with students, showing interest in their personal lives and managing everyone’s specific needs while keeping Claudia Landeen safe. She wants all families to know, “Students’ concerns are my concerns.” We appreciate the care and positivity she brings to her job while protecting this community!

2025 was full of special memories for our public safety staff team! Throughout the year, officers built bonds with Lincoln Unified School District students and families through daytime assemblies, classroom visits, recess activities and after-school events. Our officers informed the community about important topics such as internet safety and the dangers of va**ng, and they continued to learn how to best serve the public at gatherings such as the San Joaquin County Office of Education's Safe Schools Summit.

Thank you to all who showed gratitude, kindness and support to us this year. We look forward to serving and protecting Lincoln families in 2026!

From now through Thursday, December 18, you can fill out the form below to nominate a Lincoln High graduate for their induction into the Hall of Fame, which honors alumni who have made a positive impact in their communities through professional achievement, innovation and creativity. All Hall of Fame inductees will be recognized at the Brookside Farmhouse in March 2026!

Trojan Families and Alumni: Do you know a Lincoln High School graduate who innovates in their profession, makes meaningful change in their community, and sets a positive example for others to follow? We are looking for nominees to be inducted into our 2026 Hall of Fame. Trojans who graduated no less than 10 years ago and have achieved extraordinary success in their field may become part of the Hall of Fame on March 21, 2026.
