Stockton Shelter for the Homeless

Stockton Shelter for the Homeless We have been providing services to the homeless of San Joaquin County since 1987. We are the largest provider of emergency shelter in the county.

We have three year-round shelters and open a fourth one at the Housing Authority’s migrant camps during the cold winter months. Our family shelter has 25 rooms and we provide shelter for single women at this facility as well. When we are full, and a family or single woman comes in for emergency shelter, our staff tries to connect them with other services, another shelter, or if there is room, we i

nvite them to stay in our multi-purpose room overnight. Our single men's shelter provides bunk-beds for 150 but we occasionally exceed that number which means we put out thick mats and blankets on the floor for the overflow. Since opening in 1987, we have not had to turn away any single men seeking shelter. Our day-time Drop-In Center is a safe haven and alternative to "hanging out" on the streets or in public parks. Up to 200 people a day use this as a day labor gathering point and a place to connect with counseling and referral services. The Drop-In Center is open seven days a week, 365 days a year. Holman House is our shelter for persons living with HIV/AIDS and there have been times when we are full there too. But the same principles apply in all our shelters, we make room for emergency cases and work with other resources to locate shelter. Stockton Shelter for the Homeless is a not-for-profit agency that serves the homeless in a caring and compassionate manner. Become a supporter of the shelter.
