San Joaquin County Public Works is proud to be recognized by the Sacramento Chapter of the American Public Works Association with three Project of the Year awards!
The awards recognize projects that demonstrate excellence in project management, design, construction, sustainability and community impact.
Congratulations to the Public Works team and all of the partners who helped bring these projects to completion. From improving pedestrian safety and water reliability to strengthening critical transportation infrastructure, this work reflects our commitment to delivering practical, lasting improvements for San Joaquin County residents.

Please be advised that W. Woodbridge Road, between Davis Road and Lucas Road, is expected to close on or about September 9 for approximately two weeks. The closure will allow the Redeeming Way Subdivision's contractor to install a waterline within the County right-of-way.

Schedule changes will be posted on portable message signs. Please refer to the attached construction notice and detour map for closure details and recommended routes.

The County is coordinating with the developer's project team and sharing this information to keep the public informed. For questions or updates, contact:

Join SJDPW at a public meeting to learn about the Thornton Community Improvements project and share your feedback.

📅 Date: September 14, 2026
🕠 Time: 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.
📍 Location: Thornton Community Center (26675 N Sacramento Blvd, Thornton, CA 95686)

The project will improve safety and connectivity at Thornton Road and Sacramento Boulevard with a new roundabout, pedestrian walkways, and a new walk/bike path.

Spanish interpretation will be available.

🚧📢 PHASE 1 IS NOW UNDERWAY! 🚧

Construction has officially begun on the Woodward Avenue Extension Project! 🎉 This important project will complete the missing segment of Woodward Avenue while extending a new sewer line to support future growth in our community.

📍 Current Phase 1 Closure Limits
Woodward Avenue is currently closed from east of Pagola Avenue to just west of Main Street.

🟢 The following intersections REMAIN OPEN during Phase 1:
• Woodward Avenue & Pagola Avenue
• Woodward Avenue & Tinnin Road
• Woodward Avenue & Main Street

🚗 Please plan ahead, allow extra travel time, follow posted detour signs, and use caution when traveling through the construction area.
