🚨 THINK BEFORE YOU SPIN 🚨
Street racing and sideshows are reckless, dangerous, and illegal. These activities put participants, innocent motorists, pedestrians, and spectators at serious risk of injury or even death. Beyond the obvious danger, sideshows disrupt neighborhoods, damage public and private property, and create unnecessary hazards for the entire community.
If you choose to participate in, or observe a sideshow, be prepared for the consequences including but not limited to:
• 🚔 Your vehicle may be impounded for 30 days.
• ⚖️ You may face citations, arrest, criminal charges, and costly fines.
• 👀 Being a spectator at an illegal sideshow can also result in a citation, arrest, or the impound of your vehicle.
The California Highway Patrol and our law enforcement partners remain committed to stopping illegal street racing and sideshow activity. Our officers will use every available enforcement resource to identify and hold those responsible accountable.
And remember, if you leave the scene of a sideshow prior to law enforcement arriving, that does not mean you have escaped. Even if you are not apprehended at the scene, you can still be identified, investigated, and prosecuted. If you see illegal sideshow activity, report it when it is safe to do so. Together, we can keep our roads safe. Racing belongs on the track-not on our streets.
Think before you spin. The consequences simply aren’t worth it.
