🚨 Smoke Alarm Saturday 🚨

This weekend, more than 174 fire departments and community partners across 69 North Carolina counties joined forces to help make our communities safer by installing free smoke alarms and sharing important fire safety information.

With modern homes burning faster than ever, working smoke alarms provide an early warning that can give you and your family the precious seconds needed to escape safely.

Today, our members were proud to serve our community by testing and replacing smoke alarms, helping protect more than 50 residents.

Remember these important fire safety tips:

🏠 Test your smoke alarms every month.
πŸ”‹ Replace batteries when needed.
⏰ Replace smoke alarms that are 10 years old or older.
πŸšͺ Practice a home fire escape plan with your family and ensure everyone knows two ways out.

A working smoke alarm can make all the difference in an emergency. If you need assistance testing, installing, or replacing your smoke alarms, please reach out to us. We are always happy to help keep our community safe.

Thanks to those serving us and protecting freedom.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Today, we honor those who stand watch for America. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

On , we pause to recognize the men and women serving in the United States Armed Forces β€” U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Navy, United States Air Force, United States Space Force, and U.S. Coast Guard.

They serve on land, at sea, in the air, in space, and along our shores. They stand ready in moments of uncertainty, carry the weight of duty, and protect the freedoms we hold dear.

At Taps for Veterans, we know that service is more than a uniform. It is sacrifice. It is commitment. It is love of country.

Today, we thank all who serve β€” and we remember that behind every salute, every folded flag, and every sounding of Taps is a promise:

We will honor service. We will remember sacrifice. We will never take freedom for granted.

24 Notes. One Final Promise.

πŸ”₯ Learning Spotlight: Fire Safety Week πŸ”₯

Our scholars learned valuable lessons in fire safety thanks to the dedicated team at the Stokesdale Fire Department! πŸš’πŸ‘©β€πŸš’

Students discovered practical ways to stay safe β€” including one surprising tip: never sleep with your phone, tablet, or device in bed! πŸ”₯ The batteries in these devices can overheat and ignite bedding materials.

Families are also encouraged to designate a safe meeting place outside the home in case of a fire. Knowing where to go can make all the difference in an emergency.

We are grateful to the Stokesdale Fire Department for their ongoing commitment to our school, our students, and our community. ❀️

Effective 8 a.m. Friday morning, the burn ban will be lifted.
