The Stone Mountain Police Department is pleased to report that Sherry A. Wages, who was previously reported missing, has been located and is safe.

****UPDATE***** AUGUST 17, 2026
MISSING PERSON: Sherry Wages left her residence in Hot Springs, Arkansas, on or about March 18, 2026, and later drove to Georgia. The last known in-person contact with her was on May 27, 2026, at the Stone Mountain Post Office. Ms. Wages last had contact with her family via text on June 9, 2026. Stone Mountain Police Department received the case on August 10, 2026. Ms. Wages is reported to have mental health challenges, and she may be traveling with a dog described as a Shepherd mix. Ms. Wages’ vehicle has been described as a small, red Nissan.”

We thoroughly enjoyed spending time with the citizens during the 35th Annual Stone Mountain Day in Shermantown! Thank you to everyone who stopped by to visit with us, share conversations, and show your continued support. Events like these strengthen the relationship between our community and the Stone Mountain Police Department, and we are grateful for the opportunity to serve such an amazing city. We look forward to seeing everyone again at next year's celebration!

As we prepare to kick off another school year, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for this year's National Night Out!

It was an incredible evening of community, partnership, and fun, and we are grateful to all of the residents, families, businesses, and community partners who came out to support this important event.

A special thank you to DeKalb County School District, Stone Mountain High School, and Stone Mountain Elementary School for your partnership and commitment to our students and community. Your support helped make this event a tremendous success.

Together, we continue to strengthen the relationships that make Stone Mountain a safe, welcoming, and connected community. We look forward to an outstanding 2026–2027 school year and wish all of our students, teachers, administrators, and staff a safe, successful, and rewarding year ahead.

🇺🇸 Fantastic Fourth Traffic Advisory – City of Stone Mountain 🇺🇸

As we prepare for Stone Mountain Park's Fantastic Fourth Celebration, we want to help our residents plan ahead for what is expected to be one of the busiest holiday weekends in recent years. With increased attendance anticipated due to America 250 and FIFA-related activities, traffic congestion is expected to be heavier than normal on July 3 and July 4.

🚗 What Residents Should Know:
• Expect heavy traffic beginning in the early afternoon each day.
• Complete errands early in the day whenever possible.
• Temporary road closures will be implemented when Stone Mountain Park reaches capacity to maintain emergency access and public safety.
• Residents in the Park Boulevard, Park Drive, and Park Circle area should use the Silver Hill entrance during closures and ensure guests know their numerical address for access.

Our officers will be working diligently throughout the holiday to keep traffic moving, protect neighborhoods, and ensure emergency vehicles can respond when needed.

We appreciate your patience, understanding, and cooperation as we work together to keep our community safe while everyone enjoys this Independence Day celebration.
