Visitors to this day use park can enjoy historical sites, picnicking, fishing, swimming, nature and wildlife viewing. As of May 2014, the park is home to part of the Official Texas State Longhorn Herd. Be sure to visit the Sauer-Beckmann Farmstead, a living history farm, presented as it was in 1918. Interpreters wear period clothing, do the farm and household chores as they were done at that time,

and conduct tours for the visitors. Located east of the visitor center, off the nature trail. The abundant wildlife of the Hill Country is highlighted by enclosures containing bison and longhorn. People who work inside vs people who work outside-- state park edition!

In all seriousness though, we hope that everyone is keeping cool during these days of excessive heat. Always be sure to drink lots of water, wear sun protection, and take breaks!

Although it may not feel like it, the summer season is coming to a close with schools now back to session. And with students back in class, it's time for teachers to begin booking field trips!

To make the booking process easier, we are happy to announce the launch of our new "Field Trips" tab on the LBJ State Park website! This tab gives you all the information you need to know for a school field trip, including grade-specific TEKS alignments, date availability, and how to reserve a tour.

All schools are welcome to book; including public, private, homeschool, and special needs groups. But be sure to act fast! Our living history farm is a very popular site for schools to visit, so we book up quickly.

We’re ba-ack!

After being closed this week for our annual inventory plus store facelift, the visitor center and gift shop at the state park are once again open for business!

Our awesome office staff counted over 1,289 different line items totaling 16,231 total pieces (in duplicate!) 🤯 That's over 1,000 options - and if you have a really large car... 16,231 things you could take home with you 🚚

And with the help of our fantastic field staff, we also installed these chic slat walls to give our space more space and better show off our wares. 🤩

If you’re in the area, stop by to say hi - get out of the heat - or do a little shopping.

See you out there!
