Prescribed Burn Barn Island

The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Forestry Division is planning to conduct a controlled burn at Barn Island Wildlife Management Area today, Tuesday April 21st. This burn will be limited to approximately 10 acres. The goal is two fold in that the burn will lower the risk of wildfires by reducing the amount of burnable vegetation in the area and to help limit the spread of invasive plants.
Please try and avoid the parking area off of Palmer Neck Rd during the morning and afternoon hours while the burn takes place as access may be limited at times.
Thank you
