Storm Update

Good afternoon,
Many of the roads that were impacted earlier in the day by downed trees have been cleared and reopened to traffic. Any remaining closed roads are actively being addressed and should be opened soon. Power restoration efforts continue for those residents without power.
A few reminders:
Westerly Water is still reminding customers there is an Emergency Water Ban in place prohibiting outdoor water usage to include lawn irrigation. Please temporarily shut off all irrigation systems to assist in restoring critical water levels within their system. The weather in the coming days looks favorable to assist in this but we need everyone's cooperation to make this happen.
Weather forecasts for the next few days will include very heavy rains with 2-4 inches of rain expected and locally higher amounts possible. Please take steps to prepare your property now. While driving be sure to slow down and if the road is flooded please turn around and seek an alternate route. Please also remember during these storms to stay clear of all downed power lines. During storm events lines become entangled in downed trees and are difficult to see especially at night.
Thank you and stay safe!

Extreme Heat Reminders

The State of CT has activated its extreme heat protocols as we are expected to see increasingly warmer temps throughout the remainder of this week. Here are a few reminders as we head into this stretch of weather:

Anyone in need of a place to get out of the heat can locate the nearest cooling center by calling 2-1-1.
Try to limit outdoor activity to the morning and evening hours and avoid direct midday sunlight.
Check on the most-at-risk several times a day
Stay hydrated- Drink more water than usual and avoid alcohol and other drinks with high amounts of sugar
Remember that pets need access to water and shade if they are outside to help keep them cool.

Stay safe and enjoy the remainder of the week!

Hope all the dads out there have a great Father’s Day!
