🔥On June 4, 2026, the Stonington Borough Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire on Diving Street in the Borough of Stonington, Connecticut.
At approximately 7:48 AM, the Stonington Police Dispatch Center received several 911 calls reporting a fire. First arriving units found a two-story residential structure with active smoke showing from the rear of the residence. Firefighters quickly located and extinguished the fire before conducting extensive overhaul operations to ensure there was no extension throughout the home.
The residence was unoccupied at the time of the incident, and no injuries were reported.
We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the neighbors who not only quickly detected and reported the emergency, had a garden hose spraying water on the structure but also moved their vehicles from the street to provide access for responding fire apparatus and assisted by making contact with the homeowner.
We also thank the agencies that responded to assist, including Stonington Volunteer Ambulance Corps (SVAC), the Wequetequock Fire Department (WVFD), Pawcatuck Fire Department (PFD), Old Mystic Fire Department (OMFD), Eversource, and the Public Works Department.
A special thank you goes to the Stonington Police Dispatchers and Westerly Dispatch for their assistance throughout the incident.
The Borough of Stonington Fire Marshal’s Office is conducting the investigation.

🚒 Mutual Aid Response – Stonington Borough Fire Department 🚒

Stonington Borough Fire Department was dispatched mutual aid this evening to the Town of Ledyard, assisting numerous agencies in the mitigation of a large brush fire.

Lt. Ruffin and his crew arrived on scene and immediately went to work alongside fellow first responders to bring the situation under control.
