Mosquitoes- Positive for West Nile Virus

Good evening,
Mosquitoes recently trapped in the Mystic section of Stonington tested positive for the West Nile Virus. These resulted are not unexpected for this time of year during testing but it is a good reminder to take the necessary precautions.
Avoid mosquito bites by:

Reducing time outside at dawn and dusk
Covering skin with clothing
Make sure all window and door screens are properly maintained
Use mosquito repellent if you have to be outside during these times.

Reduce the mosquito population on your property by:

Removing standing water - especially in containers and other items
Clean clogged gutters
Use landscaping to eliminate where water can collect.

Thank you
