You don't have to go far in the 43rd District to see how important farming still is to our communities.

Across North Stonington, Stonington, and Ledyard, local farms are part of the landscape and part of our local economy. The same is true of the fishermen, shellfish growers, and other local food producers who make their living here.

These are often small businesses and family operations, and the decisions made in Hartford can have very real consequences for them. I believe the people doing this work should have a voice when those decisions are being made.

I’ll support our local farmers, fishermen, and food producers and make sure Hartford listens to the people who know this work firsthand.

Congratulations to Bill Heughins on the start of his 30th year of teaching and for receiving an Endorsement from the Connecticut Education Association!

Just finished my first day with students, starting my 30th year here at Wheeler. It was a wonderful day seeing the kids and excited for Back to School Night tonight. Also wanted to announce that I received an Honor Roll Designation in the 2026 election for the 43rd District from the Connecticut Education Association. I am humbled by this honor.

What a turnout Thursday night for the ribbon cutting at our new Regional Democratic Headquarters!

State Treasurer Erick Russell, State Rep. Aundré Bumgardner, State Senate candidate Joe de la Cruz, and State House candidate Bill Heughins joined Democrats from Stonington, North Stonington, Ledyard, and across southeastern Connecticut to celebrate our new home base.

Thanks to everyone who filled the room and porch and made the opening such a great night!

We’re excited to announce that Connecticut State Treasurer Erick Russell will join us Thursday night for the Grand Opening of our new regional Democratic Headquarters!

Since taking office in 2023, Erick has helped launch CT Baby Bonds, the first program of its kind in the country, giving thousands of Connecticut children a financial foundation for college, job training, homeownership, or starting a business. He has also used Connecticut’s influence as an investor to support union workers and end the state’s investments in private prisons. In 2022, Erick became the first Black out LGBTQ person in American history elected to statewide office. We’re thrilled to welcome him!
