📚JUNE 25--"Neither Wolf nor Dog” by Kent Nerburn. Set deep in the world of an Indian elder known only as Dan, this book inhabits Indian towns, white roadside cafes, and abandoned roads that swirl with the memories of the Ghost Dance and Sitting Bull. Nerburn’s contemporary classic takes readers to the heart of the Native American experience. Dan speaks eloquently on the difference between land and property, the power of silence, and the selling of sacred ceremonies.

📚JULY 23—“Pastoral Song” by James Rebanks. When he was a child, James Rebank’s grandfather taught him to work the family farm in the Lake District hills of England in the “old way.” But, by the time James inherited the farm, it was barely recognizable; people had vanished from the fields and the old stone barns had crumbled. Rebanks tells readers how he found hope by beginning to salvage his tiny corner of England, restoring the life that had vanished and leaving a legacy for the future. *This book is the summer reading program-themed selection for this year. The 2026 summer theme, "Plant a Seed, Read," is centered around the farm-to-table movement and sustainability.*

📚August 27—“The Road to Tender Hearts” by Annie Hartnett. At sixty-three years old, million-dollar lottery winner PJ Halliday would be the luckiest man in Pondville, Massachusetts, if it weren’t for the tragedies of his life: the sudden death of his oldest daughter and his divorce afterwards. PJ spends his money and his time at the bar—and has survived three heart attacks. His enthusiasm for life suddenly returns when he readsthe obituary of an old romantic rival and realizes his high school sweetheart is now single again. PJ decides he’s going to drive across the country to the Tender Hearts Retirement Community in Arizona to win her back—but life throws him a few curveballs along the way..
