Yesterday we had the opportunity to thank some of the Buena Vista University personnel who enable BVU Army ROTC in developing future leaders in our Total Army. Big shot out to Iowa Army National Guard for their efforts in making this happen and their continuous support.

Huge congratulations and an even bigger thank you to SFC Donavon Speers who retired today. Throughout his 20+ years of service in the Iowa Army National Guard as a Soldier, Recruiter, and Military Science Instructor, at BVU Army ROTC, SFC Speers has positively influenced countless Soldiers, Cadets, Peers, and Officers. His genuine servant leader mentality and mission focus have long set the example for others to emulate. Although his time in the military has come to a close his legacy will continue on with all who have had the privilege of his mentorship.
