The first days of school at Mansfield Elementary School are all about the joy of returning, remembering new names, learning safe and respectful procedures, finding classrooms and establishing routines, and seeing friends old and new! And thanks to the MES PTO for all your support with our opening days. It's great to be back at MES!

What an amazing start of school Mansfield Middle School had on Thursday and Friday! After spending a few hours in classrooms getting acquainted, the whole school came together to be part of the 2026-27 photo, then later participated in lots of wonderful activities including an obstacle course, a petting zoo, lawn games, and a Barbeque lunch outdoors. Welcome back MMS!

Mansfield Elementary School administrators and teachers welcomed families on Tuesday for a short "Meet 'n Greet", helping students locate their classrooms and meet teachers before opening day on Thursday. And thanks to the Mansfield Elementary School PTO, popsicles awaited them on the playground. On Monday, August 24 Mansfield Public Schools celebrated Convocation, welcoming the district's educators back for another great year. "Level Up. Teach Up." Following a breakfast, school staff and Board members joined together to celebrate milestones in service, for introduction to new faces, and to hear from the Paraprofessional of the Year and the Teacher of the Year. The ceremony concluded with Superintendent Morell's highlights of the previous year and aspirations for what's to come:

Mansfield Middle School Enrichment Teacher Louis Goffinet will be a special guest, along with Dr. Robert Thorson, on Where We Live on CT Public Radio on Tuesday, August 18 at 9:00 AM. As a UConn professor, Dr. Thorson is known as one of the State's leading experts about Geology and Earth Sciences and will detail UConn's work with science curriculum. Mr. Goffinet and MMS teacher peers Jennifer McMunn, Rachel Altieri and Theodore Buck engaged with Dr. Thorson and MMS students to study Connecticut's geology and advocated successfully for establishing a Connecticut State Rock at the Connecticut legislature.
