Today was all about building the future right here in our community!

The Roland-Story High School Junior Class Industry Tours gave students a firsthand look at the incredible career opportunities available locally. From learning about day-to-day operations to exploring potential career paths, this experience connected classroom learning with real-world possibilities.

In communities like Story City, advanced manufacturing doesn’t always announce itself with fanfare. Oftentimes, it is found in the everyday moments of life like in the crinkle of a snack bag, the tear of a salad kit, or the resealable pouch of pet treats pulled from a pantry shelf.

Big news for Story City manufacturing and a proud moment for two incredible local businesses making things happen right here at home!

The Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) has awarded Manufacturing 4.0 Technology Investment Grants to 39 manufacturers across Iowa, supporting innovation, smart technology adoption, and the future of advanced manufacturing.

We’re thrilled to celebrate two Story City recipients:

• Dose Manufacturing — $75,000
• Record Printing Company — $75,000

These grants are part of a statewide effort through the Manufacturing 4.0 Technology Investment Program, which helps small and mid-sized Iowa manufacturers invest in advanced “smart” technologies that improve productivity, efficiency, and competitiveness.

Across Iowa this year, 39 companies were awarded a total of $1,977,066, driving nearly $6.7 million in overall project investment into modernizing manufacturing operations.

For Story City, this is more than funding—it’s a reflection of the innovation, grit, and forward-thinking leadership happening right here in our community. We are proud to see local businesses stepping into the future of manufacturing and continuing to strengthen Iowa’s #1 industry.

Congratulations to Dose Steelworks and Record Printing on this exciting achievement!

Tax credits for four manufacturing companies, supporting the creation of 87 jobs and generating $100.8 million in new capital investment for the state.
