Make safety part of your back-to-school checklist!

Review pedestrian and bus stop safety if your kids walk, bike, or ride the bus to school. Talk about your after-school plans and what to do if something goes wrong. Make sure your child has a copy of your emergency contact list and knows who to call if they are unable to reach you.

Dane County is updating its Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan. You can help identify the risks facing the region by taking this survey between now and September 14.

This plan is reviewed and updated every five years as part of ongoing efforts to reduce the impacts of natural disasters on communities. Public feedback helps to guide this process, as the county and participating municipalities work to complete the update in 2027.

A huge thank you to Stoughton, Wisconsin Police Department for hosting another fantastic National Night Out!💙🚓

It was a wonderful evening filled with community, connection, and fun. Events like these give everyone the opportunity to meet the first responders who serve them, strengthen relationships, and work together to keep our community safe.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello, and a special thank you to all of the officers, volunteers, and organizations who helped make the evening such a success. We’re proud to be part of such an incredible community and look forward to seeing everyone again next year!

Drowning can happen in seconds—and often without a sound. Whether you're spending the day at the pool, lake, river, or beach, taking a few simple precautions can make all the difference.

🌊 Keep a close eye on children around water—always.
🦺 Wear a properly fitted life jacket.
🏊 Learn to swim and know your limits.
❤️ Learn CPR—you could save a life.

As our community gathers to celebrate Independence Day with family, friends, parades, and fireworks, we wish everyone a fun, safe, and memorable holiday!

Our crews are proud to be here 24/7, including today, ready to answer the call whenever we're needed. A heartfelt thank you to all of our first responders and healthcare professionals who are working to keep our communities safe while others celebrate.

If you're enjoying fireworks, please use them responsibly, stay hydrated, wear your seatbelt, and never drink and drive.
