🦅 Mandt Park Osprey Update 🦉

We wanted to share a quick update on the osprey activity at Mandt Park.

Recently, we went to clean up the nesting platform structure we installed years ago near the Water Plant, in hopes that it would attract the ospreys back to that location. However, when we got there, it was discovered that a Great Horned Owl has made itself at home and taken over the nest.

Because of this, we’ll be allowing the ospreys to continue building their nest on the light pole at Mandt Park for the remainder of this season. And it looks like they've included the cone in their structure, so we'll leave that too. The lights are LED with a cooling system, so we are not concerned with potential heating hazards.

Once the season wraps up, we plan to remove that nest and install a new osprey nesting platform at the snow dump site off of Fourth Street—providing a safer and more suitable long-term location for them.

A big thank you to Pat Ready (“The Osprey Guy”) for his help throughout this process and for sharing the beautiful photos below!

We’ll continue to keep you updated as things progress.
