This storm is a major storm. Stay off the roads. Check smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors. Clear all vents on the house of snow. Charge phones. Check flashlights. Keep space heaters away from combustible material. Please, if there is a fire hydrant in front of your house, please help us by clearing it of snow. Power loss is probable. Only call 911 if wires are across the house, road, or a threat to life or property. Report power loss to your provider. Power Companies collect all data and assign crews. Do not expect wires to be fixed until high winds cease. Please check on your neighbors,especially elderly and disabled. There is a Regional Shelter in Weymouth. If needed, SFD will get you there. The Senior Center will be open for a warming center on Sunday. Stoughton, stay home and stay safe! Working together WE GOT THIS!

This is a Storm event message from the Town of Stoughton. Blizzard Warning.
Alert:BLIZZARD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 5 AM till SUNDAY Blizzard conditions expected. Total snow accumulations of 18 to 24 inches. Winds gusting as high as 70 mph. Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Very strong winds could cause extensive tree damage. Considerable blowing and drifting snow along with near white out conditions at times. Snowfall rates of 2 to 4 inches per hour is possible at times.
Instructions: Travel should be restricted to emergencies only. If you must travel, have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay with your vehicle.We ask residents and businesses to report any power outages to their utility companies and not 911. The Town will continue to monitor power outages throughout the town and work with our utility liaisons to re-establish power as quickly and safely as possible. Stoughton Senior Center will host a warming Center on Sunday. Emergency Management will update with any changes.
