Like so many of us, I still carry the memories of September 11, 2001. It is hard to imagine that 25 years have gone by. For the families of the victims, it has been 25 years of heartbreaking loss.

Each September 11, I am intentional about standing with these families and with first responders to commemorate that day and pay tribute to those who have died as a result of the attacks - both that day and in the years since. This year I attended ceremonies at the Massachusetts Fallen Firefighters Memorial, Braintree Town Hall and Quincy Fire Department Headquarters. It is so important to honor and remember.

I was honored to join Stephen Shinney, President of the Weymouth Vietnam Memorial for the annual Agent Orange Memorial Ceremony on Monday. I am grateful to the families of Christopher Pompeo and Kevin Walsh whose names were added the Agent Orange Memorial. The sacrifices made by these veterans and their families will always be remembered.

I was proud to be invited to speak at the Stoughton 300th Anniversary celebration, block party and grand opening of the newly refurbished train depot community center. Congratulations to Select Board Chair Joe Mokrisky, Vice Chair Debra Roberts, and Select Board members Scott Carrara, Stephen Cavey, and Lori Jacques and my colleagues in federal, state and county government who made this a reality.

Today we remember the United States Marines who invaded Iwo Jima on February 19, 1945 and raised our flag. May Iwo Jima Day always honor their sacrifices and their memory.

Congratulations to Chief John Schlatz, the members of Bridgewater Fire Department Local 2611 and the Town of Bridgewater. This is a great investment in safety for residents and for the firefighters who serve them. I wish I could be there today but hope to visit soon. Thank you to Chief Schlatz and Renee Rushton for inviting me.

Limited parking will be available at the Station. Additional parking is available at the Scotland Baseball Field on Prospect Street, with a free shuttle running continuously between the field and the station. A big thank you to Bridgewater State University for providing the shuttle service!

We look forward to welcoming residents and sharing our new station with the community.

This past Sunday, I was able to be with our veterans commemorating Pearl Harbor Day. It was an honor for me to speak at the ceremony remembering the 2,403 lives lost on December 7, 1941 and honoring my friend, Bert Tremblay. The ceremony was held aboard the USS Salem and was hosted by the Quincy and Braintree Veterans Service Offices who did a great job.
